Matthew 24

24 Jesus appears to be talking about more than "great illusionists." These people would have convincing miraculous powers (probably the work of demons). These signs, however, are for the sole purpose of leading people away from God. Many of these people will give their religion a "Christian" flavor, but the core of their religion will not be God. Those convinced by these "great signs" will scoff and persecute Christians who cling to God and the Bible. To them it will appear that God is either not real, on equal ground with, or powerless when compared to the miracle workers (Ex 7:11, Rev 16:14).
25 But Jesus has warned us this would happen, so we must be careful not to be deceived by anything that would turn us away from Him.
