Luke 23

49 This verse seems to be often overlooked in its statement that "all" Jesus' acquaintances witnessed the crucifixion, be it at a distance. Considering that they all scattered the evening before (Mat 26:56), one might understand that they wanted to see the outcome of Jesus' trial, but likely cowered behind the crowds hoping not to be recognized. It appears that only John, Jesus' mother, and a few others were brave enough to venture close enough for Jesus to speak with them (John 19:25-27).
